Cathedral Peak from Bud Lake

from $50.00

It is great when you have friends who are willing and able to help carry a heavy field camera, tripod, film hilers, filters, light meter, etc. up the unofficial trail to Bud Lake from Tuolemne. David Vassar and Dan Gottlieb did the job with no complaints. (I guess they are not from NYC) Cathedral Park is a favorite peak in Yosemite, first climbed by John Muir. It is not hard to climb by the easy route, shown in the photograph, but for the last twenty feet on the climb a rope is a welcome friend. I have been up it three times.

I used a Toyo Field film camera on 4x5” film, a 180mm lens, a tripod and black and white film. The negative was scanned with a wet mount system. The image was adjusted in photoshop for contrast, and burned and dodged. The image was then printed on an archival Canon Printer on archival paper. This is a very detailed image that can be enlarged well.
